Cohort external database

Maintained by Dan Marsden, Catalyst IT
This plugin creates site-level cohorts using a connection to an external database. (similar to enrol_database plugin but instead of creating enrolments it creates site-level cohorts.)

@Otaku - yes. Probably best that you try it out and see if it meets your needs. smile
Thank you @Dan, one last question if I may, if we can sort out a db connection, if a student is listed twice with 2 or more different cohort requirements, will the plugin create all cohorts?
I haven't used the adodb CSV connnector before - not sure if it works, but you could give it a go - it might be ok - just sounds extremely fragile.
Thank you for the response Dan. I saw the csv option in the drive list and had hoped it was a file.
@Otaku Dude - this plugin does not support the use of CSV files - it requires access to a database server and queries the database server directly for the information - thanks.
Hi,
This looks super-useful, thank you. I have tried to search for documentation that covers setting up csv as the database driver. Is this simply a csv output from our database? How is it accessed? Many thanks, Nigel.
works fine for us in 3.9 - as we don't use the plugins database ourselves for managing plugins, we do not regularly update the plugins db with the latest version of all our plugins due to the administrative overhead the latest versions of all our plugins are always in github.
Hopefully when MDLSITE-4781 is resolved it will allow us to automate this.
Is this plugin still supported?
I'm curious this might be the answer to my yearning. Hosting cohorts in external database should mean that should mean that each externalised cohorts can be separate without users of each cohorts knowing they exist on the Moodle insurance, right?
I've installed on 3.7.2 and working..
But is there any plugin that create Categories also as well as cohorts?? Should be perfect smile
Thanks a lot. It works great in Moodle 3.5. Very usefull. Hope it will work as well in Moodle 3.6 and 3.7
