Configurable Reports

Dear Juan,
I'm interested when you say that the migration to 8.2 will be a lot of work? I've looked at https://www.php.net/manual/en/migration82.php and wondered why?

We use configurable reports very heavily, and have it working well on our test site upgraded to 4.1. However obviously we would prefer that the plugin was properly upgraded to 4.1 as there could be unforeseen issues. We do have some funding available to help with this. Do you know of any experienced Moodle developers who might be willing to take up this upgrade? Please do put them in touch with me.

Hi Juan, thank you a lot for replying. I have installed a XAMP version of Moodle 4.1 in my Windows pc, it says the PHP environment is 8.0.28 and managed to install Configurable Reports without any issue, and it seems it works fine.
If there is need to update it, where would you focus? on UX or do you think the code might have issues in 4.1? Because if it works, let's not jinx it

hi guys, I'm sorry but I'm not going to have time in the following weeks to work on 4.x compatibility (as you know, I work for Moodle HQ but this plugin is not maintained by HQ so I have to do it in my very limited spare time)
Apart from the previous, what I'd probably do will be to ensure PHP 8.2 compatibility (I can say that tit will require a lot of work)
In the meantime, I'd invite anyone from the community and the Moodle Partners network to collaborate by forking. the repo and provide PR for all the issues you might found

It's on the roadmap (https://moodledev.io/general/community/roadmap) to add the Workplace Report Block to Moodle, yet that also does not have custom SQL capability from what I've heard. Is it possible that custom SQL capability will be added to that? -Ben

To add something. The Custom Reports function in Moodle 4.0 4.1 could be tweaked to allow custom SQL queries? That is the only thing missing. If that would be allowed then it would just avoid the need of this plugin as we could do the same with Custom Reports.

Not sure why we did not hear from you yet, but I would like to join my colleagues above and say this block is so important to us too and it would be great if we can get an update from you regarding any plans as soon as possible.

Hi Juan, Sara, this plugin is basically our eyes and ears into Moodle. Not just for administrator, but for many other offices at the University. The lack of it might make it impossible for us to adopt Moodle 4.x
