no, this is not the purpose of this plugin. You can use mod_customcert for it

I've installed the plugin and wanted to give the rle trainer the right to create his own certificates for a course - doesn't work sad

hi Andrew, there are significant differences in the backend between these plugins, the main one is that tool_certificate defines certificates on system/category levels and not inside of the courses.
You are welcome to continue using mod_customcert, they by no means conflict with each other.

How does this relate to the existing mod_customcert plugin? Was it developed in partnership with the team? Is there an upgrade path?
It seems very odd that Moodle would develop and release a plugin that would 'compete' with such an established, high quality, plugin.
