I'd love to make it AJAX, but I haven't had time to add that. Any-one who would like to get involved with the block's development for AJAX would be welcome.
At the moment, the block only works at the course level. There is already rating support in Moodle for forum posts etc which can be extended through onto other modules which might be more in line with what you're looking for.

I think submitting a form kills this interesting feature. AJAX is a must. Can this be implemented for any module on Moodle ie forum, resource, blog, wiki? This will be an excellent way of getting feedback from students.
