FYI - for anyone still trying to use this with Moodle 4.5+ or any version that uses php 8.0+, it includes two instances of implode() in the format.php code that need to be rewritten - the two arguments need to be swapped (no longer implode(array, separator), but implode(separator, array)). I'll see if I can change it at the github site.

Hello Paul, I did this plugin years ago for a Moodle user that was interested in importing a bunch of questions from Canvas.
I am now retired, and I stopped all Moodle programming, so unless someone wants to work on this plugin I guess there will be no upgrade. Sorry.

Have there been any updates to this plugin recently? Ones that support the most recent Canvas release. I've been trying to export question banks to Moodle, and is always gives me the message that there are no questions in the file.

Does anyone know of a free hosting site where I can test drive this plugin before paying our hosting company to review and install it for us? Thanks!

Some PHPdoc issues in question/format/canvas/format.php, but they don't appear to be deal breakers.
I tested the import using the provided test file in tests/fixtures (thanks for that!) and it works as expected.
The install instructions needs to be updated to change references from moodle-qformat_fronter to moodle-qformat_canvas.
Once that is fixed, this should be ready to be released.
