Hello! My department utilizes the Dialogue tool. We are going to be upgrading into Moodle 5.0. Are there any plans on making this plugin compatible with Moodle 5.0. Also, if there are no plans on making it compatible, would we still be able to access all the data that was used with this plugin? Thank you!
Hi! I'm trying the plugin on Moodle 4.0 and I have issues with sending pdfs to recipients. When they try to open the file they just land on their Dashboard page. Anyone can help?
@Doc, if you at the github repo you would see the last update there was 2 months ago. All the latest versions of the plugins I support will be in github. Yes it takes time for me to update the version in the plugins db but if that's a problem for you, you may want to look for alternatives to suit your needs.
The same appears in 4.3. I guess you no longer support the plugin.
@Christian - great to hear you find it useful - please report any issues to the github issues tracker - thanks!
Hi Dan,
First of all: Let me thank you for this really useful plugin which we use a lot in our classes.
I'd like to bring the following issue to your attention: Since some time - probably after upgrading to Moodle 4.2 - we face an issue with all the editing fields in Dialogue , when using the Atto-Editor: The Atto-buttons do not show any icon. There is just a small square as a placeholder for an image, like when an image cannot be found. This is not depending on the browser and it doesn't happen with any editing field other than "Dialogue". Any help wil be appreciated.
Hello !
I'm having an issue : users with student role aren't allowed to see th users list. They get a "nopermission" error, even if i thought everything is allowed for them in the permissions.
Moodle 4.0.1
dialogue 4.2
Thanks in advance

Can anyone help me to understand what I need to do in order to solve this problem on the db?
Thanks in advance
I have reported this via github, but I notice that in Moodle 4.1 this activity is showing the Description text twice.
@Dr. Nellie - it doesn't look like that's something supported at this stage (which did surprise me when I went to look at it myself) - seems like something that we probably should add at least for admins at some point. Feel free to reach out privately if you would like to fund improvements to the plugin.
Is it possible for admin/teacher/manager to delete a message? One of my students posted the same post 3 times and wants two of them deleted. He can't do it so he asked if I could, but I can't seem to be able to do it. I didn't find anything in permission. Thank you for your help.
@Dave - best place to report issues is the issues tracker - make sure you include information about the Moodle version and the version of Dialogue you have installed. - thanks.
Something that I noticed (well a client noticed), is if a user starts a draft message which they then save, if they then come back and edit that draft and send it. The order that it appears in the list of communications is not based on the date it was sent, but appears to be based on the date that the draft was started. The significance in this case, was the tutor receiving the message, couldn't find it, as it appeared on page 3 of the list of messages, as other students had been conversing with them between the draft being opened, and it being sent. Assuming that I have correctly deduced the cause of this behaviour, could the order that the items appear be changed to be based on the 'sent' date rather than the date the draft was started.
(updated comment)
We've been happily using this plugin for some time now. There's recently been an update on our 3.9 server that's disabled this plugin for us, because Authenticated users are no longer able to use the User search field to find the person they want to message because Moodle considers that 'viewing course participants' which Authenticated users aren't allowed to do across the site. We use this plugin so our students can contact their Ecoaches and have discussions that persist even when the student switches between coaches.
I don't know if there's any way that this can be fixed in an updated version of the Dialogue plugin (not sure if there's still work being done on this plugin) but we would greatly appreciate it. There's currently no alternative for us as the messaging system doesn't offer what we need.
This is one of our university's most used activities, definitely our most used plugin. We love it! With the 3.9 version also came the option to start a single conversation with more than one person - which is great! You should add that to the description, I think!
