The Atto editor is not included in Moodle 5.0, so you can't install this sub-plugin. However, you can install the Atto editor yourself from https://github.com/moodlehq/moodle-editor_atto. You should probably just use the TinyMCE editor which is the new default editor, and install the corresponding Word conversion plugin https://moodle.org/plugins/tiny_wordimport instead, which gives the same functionality.

Hi! I cannot install the latest version of this plugin in Moodle 5.0.2+, the system says the plugin type is unknown.
I have enabled the XSL extension in my server, still the plugn cannot be installed.
Can anyone help me please?

Hi Iñigo, unfortunately, the new TinyMCE editor is more difficult to create plugins for, and I haven't yet figured out how to go about it. Other developers seem to have the same problem, so it's not just me. At present, the only option is to revert back to the Atto editor if you really need to keep this feature.

We love this plugin, is there in the roadmap any plans to adapt it to TinyMCE?
It became the default editor on Moodle 4.3 for new installs and on Moodle 4.4 for those upgrading from previous versions...

No, footnotes will be dropped in the conversion from Word to HTML.

Yes, it is free, and secure. Using it won't really affect Moodle performance, unless you are importing or exporting very large numbers (1000+) of questions, and even then only for a few seconds.
