Inactive User Cleanup

Maintained by DualCube Team
The inactive user cleanup is a useful solution that deletes an inactive user's account automatically. Additionally, the solution sends users emails informing them before deleting their account. Thus, if a learner logs in before the account is deleted, he or she will not be removed from the system.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for reaching out! You need to unzip and then copy the "inactive_user_cleanup" folder to the path your_moodle_folder/admin/tool and then go to Site administration ► Notifications and install the plugin.
Or you can install from the site map:- Site administration ► Plugins ► Install plugins
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks and Regards,
Arindam
Does it have to install on the site home page? Ours is customised within the theme therefore I cannot install this block at all - or so it seems.
Hello
I installed your plugin but my site doesn't pick up your settings page so I can't edit the settings. It installed as any other plugin would install and the settings.php file, index.php, and all the other files etc is there in the plugin folder, but the Moodle site does not see it so I can't get to it. Any idea what could be causing this?
Hello Mile,
Kindly check your email, I have responded over mail. Please let me know if we can help you with anything else.
Thanks & Regards,
Priyasha.
Hi,
I also installed this plugin and it immediately started sending out emails at a 15 minute interval.
Deleted it 5 minutes later.
Hola Newton ,
Gracias , Priyasha .
Hi Arindam, I had the same issue as Richard, though haven't tried the latest version yet. I will later this week on a test server this time, since I don't want the same to happen again. But just that I understand the configuration as attented. If I keep the 10 days to deletion setting, users will receive the email notification on the 355 day of not loggin in? Thanks Gemma
Hi Richard,
Though we could not replicate that issue we have made some modifications to the plugin anticipating what may have caused this. Please check with the latest version we published today and let me know if that is fine.
Thanks and Regards,
Arindam
I installed this plugin today and before I had time to configure it, it had started emailing users - around 2000 of them!
They received a blank email. When I got to the plugin configuration page, the settings were already set to 365 day and 10 days to deletion. The users that received emails had logged in recently, indicating that these settings were being ignored. I have uninstalled the plugin as I do not want to risk these active users being deleted from the system.
Hi Arindam,
I'm absolutely sure. I just installed your plugin and the desaster started. After deinstalling everything was fine again. Really strange.
Regards
Tobias
Hi Tobais,
We have tested in several environments and in none of them we found spam mails being sent to users. Can you please confirm that there are no other plugins/mods are also present which may have sent mails?
Thanks and Regards,
Arindam
Hi Sam,
Thanks for using the plugin and reaching out to us! I believe this has something to do with the settings of cron. Can you please check about that? We have tested and the plugin is working correctly and not sending mails earlier than the due time.
Thanks and Regards,
Arindam
At our school every user , about 1100 users, got multiple mails and the the site was down until uninstalling the plugin. We've got a lot complaints about sending "spam"-mails.
Regards
Tobias
Hello,
I've seen since installing this plugin, some users who are active every day get a message. I know it is a message from this plugin as I have yet to enter in any email body text. So they are receiving a blank message. Any thoughts?
Best Regards,
Sam
