When using group self-selection as a student role holder, the student cannot see the list of student members who have already signed up for a group (as per screenshot #5). Is there any way to address this so that the student role holder can see who are signed up in the groups before they make their selection? For example, are there any permission settings that can be changed for the student role?
Many thanks,
Steve
We fixed some bugs and made some smaller but usefull improvements. Eg. we now support the timeline overview in moodle or it is possible to create more than one group for students https://vidmate.ooo/.
Hi! I really love the plugin, but I don't know why the password field is not showing when a student tries to create a group. Can you help?
@Dmitry
a) You can use the participants page and filter for Group:no groups
b) I think you could use the Auto-create groups feature of moodle for this.
Hi. I have some students that could not found a group with their friends. I want to randomly organize them in groups. Is there a convenient way to: a) show a list of yet un-grouped students and, b) auto-create groups for these students. Currently, I have only found a way to list self-grouped students and auto-group/re-group already self-grouped students.
@Marga yes i will review this requirement and added the issue
@Lee Using seperate groups will hide the members of other groups. Do you also like to hide the members of the same group?
@Lee and @Dave Yes it makes sense to add such a rule for completion smile I added the issue
Thank you for your input
Impressed. Very useful plug in. However it seems as though the completion has to be manual or none at all. Would it be possible to make the completion automatic when a student chooses a group?
Hi, this is a great activity. Solves a big problem I am having this year but after setting it up I have noticed a few things that could be included. If possible, could the completion settings include mark complete if the user is in a group? Also is it possible to hide the "Members" column so that users (in my case students) cannot see the names of other students in each group/option?
Hello Roger,
Thanks for this useful plugin.
I'm just wondering if is possible for the students to upload a group image. It would be great.
Thank you!
Marga
We work for a release 3.14 that will support moodle 3.3 and 3.4 with their, we fixed some bugs and made some smaller but usefull improvements. Eg. we now support the timeline overview in moodle or it is possible to create more than one group for students.
A test release is available in the github repo, but only use it for testing.
The official Release will be probably available next week.
Will this activity be available for versions beyond Moodle 3.3? We'll be upgrading to 3.4 shortly and are hoping we'll continue to benefit from the Group self-selection activity after we upgrade if possible!
Could you possibly make this so that a new group can be created by a student even if they are already in a group?
My course has several groups that students can be a part of but I also want them to be able to create their own groups.
Did you rename or delete the teacher role in your db?
Does it appear durring installation or wenn using the plugin?
I'm on Moodle 3.3.2, I cannot upgrade to the latest version of Group Select plugin. I get this message:
Debug info: SELECT * FROM {role} WHERE shortname = ?
[array (
0 => 'teacher',
)]
Error code: invalidrecord
