Course dedication

Hi! Any plans to upgrade to version 5.x?

Hey @Dan. In a couple of disciplines in our education company, we are noticing some users that have duplicate records in some sessions of dedication. Is there anything that i can do to prevent that?

I have Moodle version 5.0.6+ installed, and curiously, the plugin doesn't show reports for all courses, only some.
Has anyone else had this problem and managed to solve it?

@Dan, so if the site is configured to get rid of standard logs after a year, is any data over than a year deleted?

Hi, Is there any reason why the latest version of the Course Dedication block no longer allows configuring the time between clicks or setting a custom start and end date for the calculation period, and could this be a bug or an intentional design change?

@Jordan - the older version of the block (which you appear to be using) generates the data "live" based on the logs table data - I'm guessing you are using a different logging plugin to ship logs to an external source or have purged historical logs data.

I'm new to the Moodle community, so please let me know if there's somewhere else I should comment or log this issue! I work for a company that implements, supports, maintains, and hosts Totara platforms. One of our clients is using the Dedication block and noticed that for a few of their courses, user dedication data they claim was there, is no longer there (the enrolled learners are listed but show as having 0 time spent in the course). I've searched course logs for any un-enrollments or course resets and have found nothing. Has anybody else ever come across this issue and, if so, figured out the cause/how to potentially restore data? The client is using version 2020041000.

The Dedication block uses a scheduled task to generate the stats - please check your scheduled tasks logs and see if the dedication task is running.

I encountered a problem Dedication .Time spent calculation task has not run yet. in version moodle 5.0

I was able to use the latest version from github (MOODLE_404_STABLE branch, release 2024072200) with Moodle 5.0.1+

@Ivano, if you have internal development capabilities, feel free to test the patch on https://github.com/catalyst/moodle-block_dedication/issues/117 and if you want to help further, turn that into a pull request for me to review.

@Seaghan, The stats tab on this plugin entry (link above) shows over 1,000 registered sites are using this plugin on Moodle 4.5, however we're unable to share plans or timelines around future development of our plugins to the community - This is something that we only provide as part of commercial service level agreements with clients who pay for our time. If you have internal development capabilities, pull requests against our github repository are always very welcome - and if a pull request passes tests and includes a version update related to newer Moodle version support, our github actions processes will auto-publish updates to the plugins database here. This is a popular plugin, used by a number of our clients and a number of community organisations who may test the plugin and submit a pull request to our public repository so I would expect someone (either Catalyst or a community member) may submit a pull request that updates the plugins db entry sometime soon!

one setting im not sure about is the "Session limit" setting. What does it exactly? Cant seem to find anything more explaining than the text below "Session limit for the report page filters" and i cant find out what it means.
Anyone who knows what i does?
