ModernCommerce for Moodle

Turn Moodle into a complete, open-source course store. ModernCommerce lets training providers sell courses, bundles, programs and subscriptions without running a separate WordPress or ecommerce site. The catalog, cart, checkout, enrolment, learner account and store administration all stay inside Moodle.

Modern Commerce is maintained by Agunfon Interactivity LLC. Every plugin feature is free and open source under the GPL. You may inspect, modify and redistribute the code in accordance with the licence. Community support is provided on a best-effort basis. Optional Professional support provides maintainer-led setup, payment-gateway and upgrade guidance, email troubleshooting and consultation for one production Moodle site.

1. Sell anything you teach

Sell individual courses, multi-course bundles, structured programs and recurring subscription plans from one catalog.

2. Accept payments through four gateways

Connect your own Stripe, PayPal, Paystack or Flutterwave merchant account. Signed webhooks, payment-event tracking and diagnostic logs support reliable payment operations.

3. Build recurring revenue

Create subscription plans with trials, recurring billing, retries, plan changes, expiry handling and automatic access synchronization.

4. Arrange a storefront that fits your brand

Build configurable storefront pages with widgets, presets, categories, product details, brand settings and custom email templates.

5. Manage orders, invoices and refunds

Track order history and payment status, provide downloadable PDF invoices and manage refunds from the order console.

6. Run promotions and distribute enrolment keys

Create coupons and prepaid single or bulk enrolment keys for learners, cohorts, resellers and business customers.

7. Give learners one account area

Learners can access courses, bundles, certificates, grades, wishlists, subscriptions, orders and invoices from a consistent self-service workspace.

8. Bring learners back to checkout

Use Moodle cron for abandoned-cart recovery and payment reminders that give learners a clear path back to incomplete orders.

9. Keep learners and store teams informed

Send learner communication through email and Moodle messages. Optional Slack and Microsoft Teams webhooks provide operational alerts, with queued delivery, digests and suppression controls.

10. Use software that is open source by design

ModernCommerce is licensed under GNU GPL v3 or later. Inspect, adapt and extend it while retaining Moodle privacy support, audit logging and capability-based access controls.

Requirements and disclosures

✓ Requires Moodle 5.2, PHP 8.3+, Composer 2, Moodle cron and HTTPS for production gateways and webhooks.
✓ Payment gateways require your own merchant accounts and credentials. Card capture occurs on the selected gateway.
✓ Optional external services include Slack and Microsoft Teams webhooks. Optional add-ons are safely gated when absent.
✓ The plugin processes buyer, order, invoice, subscription and related store data. A Moodle Privacy API provider supports export and deletion workflows.
✓ No other Moodle plugin is required.
