Which version of Moodle are you using? This module works on Moodle 1.9 only.
Hi Matt,
Thanks for this plug-in.
I tried installing it in Moodle but this error returns :
Validating mod_mplayer ... Error
[Error] Unsupported syntax detected in version.php file [$module]
Installation aborted due to validation failure
If it wouldn't be too much to ask? How do I install it?
Thanks.
Hi Valery,
Yes, of course you're welcome to take over development of this plugin smile
What do I have to do to pass it over to you?
Hi matt, I come back for info about upper version of the mplayer plugin. We have a largely reworked version up to moodle 3.1 of the mplayer plugin, dual technology JWplayer and flowplayer. We would be glad to take over the maintenance cycle not to loose the benefit of this plugin.
Hi
Does this plugin work with moodle 2.8?
Hi Matt,
I processed to a quick module upgrade to Moodle 2.x version here for a local customer of mine. Basically works fine, and processed to the essential mplayerfile handling conversion. I will probably refine a bit with a set of side features the immediate needs requires before pulling more budget on it. DO you want to get this code back ? (Core standards complying writing) cheers !
Hi Aleksandar,
The SWF Activity Module for Moodle 2.5+ plays videos using the same media player (JW Player) as well as the free and open source Strobe Media Player: https://moodle.org/plugins/view.php?plugin=mod_swf
It's still possible to upload video files via FTP, using the Moodle File System repository, so if your HTTP upload limit is set too low and you don't want to/can't change it, you can still upload them smile
Moodle 2.x isn't backwardly compatible with 1.9 plugins. Plugins require redevelopment.
Hi Matt,
When can we expect to see a version of Media Player for Moodle 2.5+? Are you working on this module or you have abandoned it?
One more question - is it theoretically possible to install the current version of this plugin on a Moodle 2.5.3?
Best regards,
Aleksandar
Hi Vinay,
I'm still getting feedback and making changes. When I think that it's in a final enough state to release, I'll announce it on my blog: http://blog.matbury.com/ or if you have a Github.com account you can subscribe to updates on the repository.
All the best,
Matt
Hi Matt,
When do you think this release would be available?
Thanks,
Vinay
Hi Wen,
I'm currently developing the SWF Activity Module for Moodle 2.5+: https://github.com/matbury/SWF-Activity-Module2.5 which will also support media playback functions. It can support a number of popular Flash based media players and comes with JW Player 5 (as used in the Media Player module) and the free and open source Strobe Media Player (SMP).
See some demos of SMP here: http://matbury.com/strobe/
Demos of the SWF Activity Module for Moodle 2.5+ are here: http://m2.matbury.com/course/view.php?id=3
The project is still in beta so please let me know what you'd like to do with it and If there's any changes you think would make the module more useful, and I'll see what I can do.
Cheers! Matt
Can this plugin be used on Moodle 2.3.x, 2.4.x, and 2.5.x? If not, is there another plugin that can easily replace Moodle's default flowplayer? The play button on the flowplayer is just too small! Thanks!
Hi Matt,
i was just thinking the 'mplayer' usage here was referencing http://www.mplayerhq.hu but i'm not sure, does it?
