Excellent Chris, many thanks! We have been using most of your plugins for many years so we do appreciate all the effort!
Hi Dimitris,
Yes, they will be an update shortly. Rather than have to individually update each plugin, we've been working on automating the process - slower and more effort now, hopefully easier and more frequent plugin updates in the future (we do have a lot of plugins, but only a small team of developers!)
Hello everyone. I was wondering if there is any chance that the plugin will be updated for Moodle version 4.4.1 onwards? We recently upgraded and are getting some Deprecation notices with Debug turned on. If there is an alternative solution to using the plugin within the Moodle core please let us know. Many thanks!
@Roy: No, the question type itself doesn't have any inbuilt/internal variability. At the OU, when we require that sort of thing, we achieve it through duplicating a template Combined question in a category and then drawing from that category as a random questions (if in Quiz) or through embedding [category]/* if an embedded question in our learning content. I think you're the first person to ask about that specific functionality, actually!
Can this plugin randomly select from a subdirectory of questions?
This would be ideal, as Random Short-Answer Matching only randomizes one question type.
TIA
Wow! It finally appeared ! Thank the contributors.
Merry Xmas & Happy New Year!
I'm really sorry this took so long, but I just released the Moodle 3.11/4.0/4.1-combaptible version of this.
Hi there. Is there an update for the date of the release? Thanks in advance.
Moodle 4.0 (and 4.1) version seems to be working, in all the testing we have done so far, although we have still not finished testing yet (ETA next week) and I won't do an official release here until it is tested.
Hover, I am confident enough that I have now pushed all the new code to the 'main' branch on github. So, if you have the technical skill to grab that, and help test it, then please do.
Please see my post on Monday 7 November, 10:11....
Hic Hic ! One month more!
Ah, yes, the newish 'Show your working' feature is plain text entry only. However, I am sure that we could add image support to it (though I cannot promise how quickly that would be).
Thanks Tim, I was just checking to see if that supported images/files.
To add to what Chris just said: the next version of combined, when we get it released, will haev a new option to have ungraded 'show your working' text input boxes for the student type into - and you could then use manual grading to update the question grade based on that if you wanted.
@Simply Zeus, The problem with adding Essay to Combined is that every other sub-question can be auto-marked by the system, but Essay needs to be either ignored or human marked. We at The Open University UK has been considering an auto-graded Essay question (either using Gordon Bateson's (which would become a dependency) or developing our own based on our Pattern Match, which could then be a sub-question that would do this. Unfortunately that has not risen high enough on our 'to do' list, though we do hope to address it in 2024/2025 given current OU priorities.
