@Kris - I saw your note above about reporting problems to tracker.moodle.org. I have added the problem I'm experiencing with the "Add a new discussion" button to the tracker system.

I installed the Advanced Forums module in a new Moodle 2.7 environment. I have tested with both the "Clean" and "More" themes. When I click the "Add a new discussion" button, nothing happens. I know that with this version, an inline form is supposed to appear below that button when it is clicked. In this fairly stock Moodle 2.7 environment, I can't get it to work.
Some questions:
* Is there a module dependency that I'm missing?
* Are there module conflicts that I should be aware of?
* Do the core themes (Clean and More) need to be hacked to enable the dynamically revealed "new discussion" forum to appear on screen?
Any ideas on how to resolve this problem are appreciated!

@Kim - yes it can! We'll add it to the upcoming version that should be available in early February.

We have been using Advanced forums for quite some time. With our recent upgrade to 2.7 the functionality of moving to the next or previous post is no longer available. This was a key functionality of this forum type!! Can this be fixed?

A new version of this plugin for Moodle 2.7 has been uploaded to the plugins repository. The new version is a major re-design of Advanced Forums that is focused on accessibility and a simplified interface. The updates include some major improvements, particularly for screenreader usability:
* Optimized user experience with a single, modern, intuitive, and accessible forum view for all users that replaces the four previous view options.
* Improved accessibility for users with screen readers.
* Increased responsiveness and ease of use on mobile/tablet devices.
* Improved user engagement and interaction as an assessment activity, a p2p and tutor communication tool, and a blog/information distribution tool.
There is a known issue with simple, single forums where the description is listed twice. We are actively working towards a resolution that should be available in an updated version available in early February. If you experience a problem please ensure that you submit any issues to tracker.moodle.org.

@Nathan - There's not a straightforward way to do it, it would need to be developed. We are considering adding this feature to a future roadmap, but would be happy to review any community contributions.

Hey Kris, I was wondering if you are planning to upgrade this Advanced Forum plugin? We are using version 2.7.3 of Moodle and it obviously does not work. Do you have a timeframe for when that might happen? Alternatively, I would be happy to upgrade this myself or collaborate with you. Are there any specifics you could share about potential pitfalls for making this work with 2.7.3? Thanks, Zach

The different views should be an option in the Appearance settings.
So that I could have one forum that is always in the Nested view, and another that is always in Accessible view.
Customisability is key to a good plugin, as rarely does everyone want to achieve the exact same thing.

Hi Nathan - In a future version of Advanced Forums, we will be consolidating the different views into a single one based off of the Accessible view, which should simplify the use cases in your first comment. You can control the ability to export a discussion by configuring the relevant capability, specifically mod/hsuforum:exportdiscussion.

How do I hide the Forum administration options from students/users?
Or at least prevent students from "Export"ing the forum.

I think the Discussion displays should be Settings and not an active option that any user can select themself.
Same with how the replies are displayed too. Though mostly just the Discussion display, that's much more important.
Also the text that says "# discussions" is unnecessary in pretty much all forums.
Also just wondering in what situation the Tree discussion disaplay would be suited for?

@Kris - Thanks for clarifying. But that's not how the plugin is marketed. The plugin description should be clear that Advanced Grading Methods are not currently supported.
