Microsoft Word File Import/Export (Question Format)

I had a problem downloading a question bank in MS Word format. The Moodle Partner would not look into it as it involved 3rd part software, they said, but pointed me to Eoin Campbell on GitHub.
Eoin was very helpful and fast to locate the problem in the xml file I shared and now it is working! I wish this plugin keeps getting developed, as it is essential in managing my question banks.

The Startup template should be installed in the Windows folder C:\Users\{name}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP. In File > Options, "Advanced" panel, under the "General" section, click on the "File Locations..." button and check that the folder path for the "Startup" file type is set to the same path as you installed the template. You may need to re-start Word to see this. If the Startup folder is not set, you must set it. Also, if you are on a Mac it is more complicated, as Startup is initiall not set, and the processo of finding the folder is difficult.

Hello, I downloaded the Word template for international Spanish and followed the installation instructions. When I open Word, it doesn't appear in the tabs to select the options; I have to access the macros through the Programming tab. Can you help me with it? Thanks!

Moodle 'Select Missing Words' question type using Moodle2Word template. I am trying to use Missing words question type but when I upload the file I get this error message : Error importing question Question type gapselect is not supported by XML import. Could you please help me?

It is not possible to import questions into Moodle from within the Microsoft Word interface any more. The Word template is misleading in this regard, unfortunately. This facility stopped working in Moodle 3.0.

Thank you for the great plugin, but i need some help with the login or import file right on the word file.
When i filled in the login information and press ok a recieved a warning: Login failed.
what can i do to fixed this problem? Does i need to change any seeting of my moodle website?

Hi Amy, try registering on the http://www.moodle2word.net/ test website, and enrol onto the "WordTable Question conversion" course. There you will find an old downloadable Word template customised for the Mac (at http://www.moodle2word.net/mod/resource/view.php?id=7) with installation instructions at http://www.moodle2word.net/mod/page/view.php?id=8.

Thank you for creating this plugin, but I am having some issues getting started. First, I installed both the Question and Book plugin since the Book plugin is a dependency. Next, I watched the video about how to install the templates to Word, I did that though complicated since I use a MAC (different than your directions). When I reopened Word, I saw MoodleQuiz as an option, but I got a Microsoft Visual Basic error directing me to load Microsoft Visual Basic. I did that, but when I choose a question type, I get the following error message:
"Compile error in hidden module: 'mdlUpload'. This error commonly occurs when code is incompatible with the version, platform, or architecture of this application."
What am I doing wrong or missing? Thanks.

In the Word template, you must explicitly create a new category using the "Add category" command. When importing questions from a Word file, the "Get category from file" flag must be checked in the "General" section of the Question bank > Import page.

i am trying to add question to a category but it doesn't it create it owns question category any help?

Sir, I would like to thank you with folded hand 🙏 for this plugin. You have saved me thousands of Hours of my life with Plugin.
Hope You will improve it to enable import of Numerical and Calculated questions types also.

Hi Simon,
The plugin is working on some Moodle 4.2 sites, but others are giving the error "The file you selected does not use UTF-8 character encoding. Microsoft Word 2010 table format (wordtable) files must use UTF-8." when you try to import a Word file. I'm investigating this issue at the moment.

The above file format problem is on Moodle 4.2 .1 and working fine on Moodle 4.1.3
