Help

This plugin allows to manage a moodle based decentralized helpdesk with three support levels. It basically works with Moodle forums. The 1st level support works on course level, so you can create as many support courses as you like (in our case we have a bunch of schools in our Moodle, each school has its own support course). All 2nd and 3rd level support members get access to certain discussions in those forums, after the 1st level support forwarded an issue.

Dear Jörg, please read carefully how the plugin works. Your users must be enrolled in the course, where the support forum resides. Only if you configured a "central" support forum, the users are enrolled automatically once they press the "help" icon. Kind regards Robert
Hi Robert, I set up the plugin and a forum in one course as you discribed. I am not sure, if it is a general forum, because I can't find this option. I have chosen "Standard" (in german) instead. In the same course I can assign the eduShare Forum. But when I move to a different course and try to assign it, the list is empty. What went wrong?
Another question: is it necessary to put it in every course? When I publish a link to the forum on the startpage, would it do its work as well?
Best regards Jörg
Hi Robert, and thanks for the very quick reply. With the method you suggested it works excellently.
Best regards,
Dom
Hello, hard to guess what the actual problem is. Can you try to open the configuration for the plugin directly using this URL: /admin/category.php?category=local_edusupport Regards Robert
Hi Robert and thank you very much for this very important plugin. I installed the plugin on my Moodle 3.9.3 platform set to fordson theme but when I go to site administration> plugins> local plugins > help .. I don't see anything. The wording "Help" appears only in bold type, followed by no other function clickable (such as the Help or the "supporters" panel shown in image 1). I read in the instructions that the plugin works with boost themes, therefore, it should be compatible with the theme installed on my platform. Any ideas?
Best regards,
Dom
Hello, it is currently not intended to support guest users, although it would be possible. Currently only authenticated users can create tickets. Sending it by mail is the fallback solution if someone is not enrolled to any support course. Greetings Robert
Hi Robert,
Nice instruments. Compliments for the screen capture functionality!
You describe the email fallback solution. Is it possible to use this also for non-logged-in users? In order to avoid spam with an admin choice to check it against existing email addresses in the database. By doing so we can answer those students with onboarding, login problems.
