Hi David, hope you are well.
Thank you for this plugin first of all; no ther plugin limits the number of emails sent per execution; it is may be the biggest advantage of the plugin for me.
My question is, would it be possible to add a "groups" option to select one or more groups to send the newsletter to? The emails are sent to all users subscribed to that course and I need to send some newsletters to only some groups that are different in terms of paid and unpaid memmebers.
If that is possible, that would be a great plus for many people I believe. Hope you may add it soon.
Thank you in advance.
Best,
Tumer
Thanks, David, for the heads-up. I would be more than happy to see a new version coming around.
Anyway, the existing version works with Moodle 4, however, an update would bring probably a couple of extra options.
In the meantime, I just need to know whether there is an option to delete an obsolete newsletter document in any way?
Would this be possible with the existing version, though?
Thanks and kind regards
Walter
Hello Walter,
at the moment we are very busy with other projects. The main client of the newsletter module is currently busy with an internal restructuring and therefore it is not yet foreseeable if and when a Moodle 4 version will be commissioned. However, we will try to keep the plugin updated.
Kind regards,
David
Hi David, I used to work with Moodle 3.* so far, but I am wondering whether the newsletter plugin is able to work under the new version 4,0 as well.
Does it work with 4.0 or is an update needed for that? Since the newsletter is a major function in our environment, I am not able to upgrade to 4.0 until the plugin is ready for it.
Kind regards, Walter.
Hi David, I notice there are comments from 2020 but the latest version the plugin seems to be vaildated for is 3.5. Does it work with higher versions please?
Cheers
Dave
Hi, e-mail is a technology from the 1970s. So if you try to apply 2020 CSS you are going to fail. Nevertheless, we implemented the newsletter in a way, that the attached CSS (if done right) will control email and website rendering the same way. So maybe you have to work on your HTML and CSS classes to get it right. Kind regards, David
Hi David. When creating a newsletter some of the CSS get stripped out from email version. Therefore, the newsletter received via email received does not look the same as on web. Is there a way to correct this?
Hi Allan, this is an activity module. So use it as any other activity. If you want to send newsletter to all users of the platform, then use it on the frontpage or in the main menu on the frontpage. Kind regards, David
How do I use this plugin? I did the installation, access the settings page. But I don't know where I can use the plugin?
Hi Darrel. I did not test yet. But it is quite likely it will work. It would be good, if you can report back so that we can fix potential problems.
Will this plugin work up to Moodle version 3.8?
Hi,
that is currently not possible. Only via direct deletion in the database. You can only delete newsletter issues which have not yet been sent. That's because in the newsletter there is always a link to the online version of the newsletter, which should always work.
Kind regards,
David
Hi David, great plugin! I am testing it.
I want to know if it is possible to delete newsletters that have been sent or hide them from the users.
Thanks!
Hi Sa Ku,
thank you for asking. In fact the 3.5 version has already been finished some months ago and was available in github for testing. I released it just now. Enjoy.
Kind regards,
David
Hi David,
Is there an updated version for 3.5 planned?
