Tiles format

Maintained by David Watson
A course format which displays course topics as "Tiles", in a grid rather than as a list. When clicked, tile content is displayed under the tile with an animated transition. The layout adapts to different screen sizes and orientations. Within each tile, activities can also be set to display as "sub-tiles". For each tile, the teacher can pick an icon from a predefined set, or upload a background photo.

Hello there! Thanks for a great plugin.
I've just decided to update Moodle and now running v3.10.3+
Plugin version is 3.9.0.13
I have a problem after an update - All tiles moved from other 8 sections in to the first one. (First section now has ALL tiles while other 7 are empty).
Is there a way to fix this? Does it have anything to do with Moodle version being newer than Format Tiles' ?
Thanks in advance.
Hello! Has anyone been able to use the Tiles format with external activities opening in new windows?
We have version 3.8.7 of moodle and the external activities always open in the same window.
Is a special configuration of the LTI required?
Thanks in advance.
I am enjoying using this but don't seem to provide 'Skip to Main content' when using Keyboard. Using the Fordson theme and it provides Skip to Main content with Grid layout.
What does "Make sure you have all the required versions." mean? I'm about to install version 3.9.0.13 on a system that has 3.7.0.16 running on it...
Hi, we love your plugin and just want to see if it is possible to update the icons. We need numbers up to 30 and just wondering how we would go about adding these numbers to the icon directory. Thanks for you assistance with this query.
I have Moodle 3.10. Just installed the plugin. Everytime I click the tiles it says invalid record and session expired!!
Hi Everyone, is there a way to lock the modal using CSS? in HTML we can use the data-backdrop="static", how to do this in CSS?
I've added more colours by adding to the $brandcolourdefauts array in the settings.php file, but the course settings only ever show 10 colour entries. Anyone had any experience with adding more colours to this plugin?
Hello David, thank's for this very nice plugin. I have a little problem, I use an external tool from my course. This tool opens in a new window in my Fordson course format but with Tiles, it opens in the same tab and it is difficult to return to the course page.
I contacted the designer of the external tool and he told me: "Open in new window" is actually not a function supported by moodle itself - I had to use a somewhat creative solution to achieve that. I think it's very possible that Tiles format overwrites that specific part of our code. For opening the Task in a new window, I closely followed the moodle core activity External Tool (mod_lti).
I am not a specialist but I would be surprised if I am the only one having this problem, do you have any suggestions? Our version of moodle is 3.8.7
Thank's a lot.
Hi, I love this plugin. It sets the visual appearance of Moodle to a new level. What I wondering about is, do you plan to implement a photo upload option for the sub-tiles as well? Currently only for the (main) tiles a photo upload is available. Would love to see this feature for the sub-tiles as well. Thank you and keep up the great work here!!
Hi, I'm having an issue with the latest version of this plugin on Moodle 3.10. When adding an external tool in a new window launch container, the external tool instead opens in an embedded display. This causes problems for our LTI external tool. Please advise. Thanks!
Hi! Great format!
Would it be possible to add color code input with the ready made color options?
This would make branding much easier.
Thank you for your hard work!
Hi Jonny yes there will be a T12 compatible version, hopefully in the spring. (There is already a Beta, which needs a little more work and I will come back to that soon.) If you'd like to help with testing, you can contact me with the "Contact developer" button at the bottom of the top section above.
Are there any plans to create a Totara compatible version of Tiles? We are migrating one of our sites onto Totara and would love to be able to keep using Tiles as the course format if possible.
Daniel please upgrade to the latest version of the plugin - it sounds like you may be using an incompatible old version intended for Moodle 3.7.
With regard to the scrolling down to the tiles which others have mentioned, this is a feature not a bug, but I may add a setting for Site Admin to disable it in a later release
