Tiles format

Maintained by David Watson
A course format which displays course topics as "Tiles", in a grid rather than as a list. When clicked, tile content is displayed under the tile with an animated transition. The layout adapts to different screen sizes and orientations. Within each tile, activities can also be set to display as "sub-tiles". For each tile, the teacher can pick an icon from a predefined set, or upload a background photo.

Hi David, thanks for developing this beautiful plugin. My team and I are curious to know if you're planning to add App support.
Hi David
Is the Tile "Content" information which appears when you hover over a tile, part of the Tiles format? If so can this be hidden?
Thanks
Martin
Hi a regular bulleted list does not seem to get rendered by the format. I added a bulleted list to the section description but it does not show as bulleted list when clicking the tile. It does show in the Atto editor but not in regular student view. This was tested in several Moodle versions.
Due to a recent update all our courses had their settings reset; including their format. When we reverted to Tiles the images were lost.
Is there any way to protect against this?
Hi. First of all, I want to comment that I love the tiles course format.
I'm having a problem on mobile devices, where activity completion doesn't work:
The user must view the activity to finish.
Thank you in advance for any solution to this issue.
Regards!
install the moove theme, and it stopped working all the courses that it had with the Tiles format format, nothing is displayed, try to change the theme back to the previous one but the course format stopped working, I don't know what error may be causing this,
Any help appreciated thanks
Good evening when reviewing the course made with the mosaic template, I go incognito as a student user and I get this message once I log in.
invalid parameter. please help. you cannot enroll in this course
It would be really nice if you enabled end users to upload their own icons to use, as the # icons you provide only go up to 12. Similarly, it would be nice if end users could define where the 'flag' that appears over the title displays on either a per tile or per course basis.
An excellent plugin and just makes the courses look and work so much better. Well done an keep up the good work
Dear @David Watson. I'm getting errors on Moodle 3.8 instance: Notice: Undefined index: courseusesubtiles in .../course/format/tiles/classes/output/course_output.php on line 864. It's not a fatal error but I'd still like to know what this might be caused by, please.
Kind regards, can you help me with this I configure and nothing that comes out the% in the tiles
You have 'Completion tracking > Enable completion tracking' set to 'No' (see further down this page) which conflicts with this setting. If you wish to display progress on the tiles, please set 'Completion tracking > Enable completion tracking' to 'Yes'. Otherwise, please set this setting to 'No'.
First off, thanks for this wonderful format option. It really makes Moodle "pop". Two questions:
1. It doesn't appear that the format is compatible with the Mass Actions Block. Is there any option to allow for Teachers to perform mass actions on content in their tiles (e.g. hide a lot of stuff with one click instead of individually having to access the drop-down edit menu)?
2. If a Teacher switches from Tiles to a different format (in order to utilize Mass Action block) and then back to Tiles, it appears they lose their Tile photos. Is there a way to preserve those when switching between formats? Thanks!
Hi David, I tried sending a message via the contact form on https://evolutioncode.uk/ but I kept getting a message saying "Sorry we could not send your message".
Hi David - hope you're well.
We are really interested in the 'Points of View' plugin where users can give visual feedback on activities and resources. It would appear to work in almost all course formats - except Tiles. I've tried both settings for displaying activites are tiles or not, but still no joy. The plugin should place an emoji to the right of the activity/resource.
Any ideas why or what could be done to get it working? It really is hugely useful. Link: https://moodle.org/plugins/block_point_view
Thanks
Dan
