Hi Gaspar, many thanks for your query on whether Board is compatible with 5.1 or not.
We have fully tested and found no issues with the current version of Board (1.405.00 2025070714) when deployed to 5.1, and we're updating the plugin's details accordingly.

I’m a Moodle administrator and we are currently planning an upgrade of our platform to Moodle 5.1.
We are using the Board activity plugin (mod_board) and I noticed that the latest release is currently marked as compatible up to Moodle 5.0.
Could you please let me know if:
• there are plans to release an updated version compatible with Moodle 5.1, or
• the current version is expected to work without issues in Moodle 5.1?
This plugin is very useful for our teaching activities, so we would like to plan the upgrade accordingly.

Hi Gabor, you will need to upgrade your Board plugin to the 1.405.00 version available here.
There were some significant changes which made the previous 1.404 version incompatible with Moodle 4.5.
Hope this resolves your issue!

Hi Brickfield. I love the Board but I seem to have lost the ability to change the Heading text field. I no longer seem to have the pencil to edit it. We are now on 4.5.7 and using Board 1.404 build. I have reviewed the capabilities, everything is ticked for the board for my admin role.

Just on my previous comment, to help user experience, the lang string of "image title" can be easily changed in the language customisation to "image alt text" in advance of us doing a code change!

Hi there Hannah, I'd like to double-check which version of Board you're using, as our code does have a requirement to put in text for image title (which is used as the alt text) if an image is being uploaded as part of the note.
If the image title is left blank, the form refuses to submit, and a red "Required" text shows below the image title field.
Then when you view and inspect the image on the board or in the note itself, the image title value should be used for the image alt text.
Your feedback has reminded us about a pending change, so in the next release, we're going to rename this field "Image alt text"!
If you have been able to submit and view a post which includes an image, but doesn't appear to have any image alt text, we would definitely like to investigate to see if this is a bug, so feel free to contact us at support@brickfield.ie if you have any further queries or feedback! Thank you!

Hello, just testing out board, its seems like a good tool. I just noticed a potential issue (It could however be me missing something obvious) - Its appears to be easy for users to miss adding alt text. Could it be made explicit to users that alt text needs to be submitted into the image title field. It would also be good if they could be prevented from making a post without adding this? Perhaps extra information added within a question mark next to ‘image title field’ or similar. ?

Hi Kassie, yes this is currently expected behaviour, that the description does not appear when a board is embedded on the course main page.

Dear folks, we have released a new version of Board, mainly to fix the reported Javascript issue being experienced by some, so we hope this will be resolved now. We are hoping to do a further release later this summer to address some of the other reported issues.

My organisation is currently on Moodle 4.1 (upgrading to 4.5 in July). Some of my users are intending to embed the board tool and display the description on the course page. But the description doesn't display once the Board has been embedded. Is this expected behaviour?

Hi! Great plugin!
I use it with my students as a Kanban board. As I want them to be as autonomous as possible, I let the members of a group to move edit and delete the messages form the other members of the group. However, by using this kind of authorization, they are also able to delete or rename the columns of the board and then deleting the whole column for all of the groups!!!
I would really appreciate if it was possible to distinguish betwen the right of moving/editing/deleting messages and the right of moving/editing/deleting the columns.

Hello! We are running 4.5.2 on Boost and have found that since we upgraded anyone with a editing role is unable to access the Board to view or change the columns, which seems to be the same issue that was reported in January. Is a fix on the way?

Is there any plans on adding a non-anonymous option for this activity?
The "single user" mode is great, but a collaborative board with the option to add the user's signature on posts and comments could be really usefull.
